“Nick Teale seems to be a musician that can not only find his footing in any genre he takes on, but carve his own groove into it as well.” - Jeff Polk
Nick Teale
A rising indie jazz rocker out of Louisville!
Born in Kentucky to a British expat, Nick Teale combines the soulful storytelling of classic Americana with the compositional and experimental mentality of British art-rock. Teale’s eclectic musical palate is the culmination of a music-rich life–from his parents’ CDs of Handel, Pat Metheny, Lucinda Williams, and the Clash to his high school obsession with Led Zeppelin and prog rock, all the way through to his forays into Middle Eastern music as a grad student at UT-Austin.
Teale’s 2021 debut EP “Love Was” draws on his experience with Middle Eastern instruments–most notably the bağlama or saz–to create an eclectic fusion of alt-rock and Turkish sounds. His 2022 album “Still in Limbo” expands this repertoire even further, traveling from folk and country to jazz, funk, rock, and Middle Eastern hip-hop!
Teale’s album “Glitterfingers,” releasing in the summer of 2024, promises an ever more expanding range and fusion of genres, from the dynamic power metal collaboration "Sail On" (featured in R+, Mesmerized Magazine, Zone Nights, Iggy Magazine, End Sessions, and beyond) to the heartbreaking indie folk ballad "Drive You Home" (which earned Honorable Mention in the 2023 Songdoor International Songwriting Competition).
Teale's music has been spun and featured on radio stations in Louisville, Lexington, Fort Collins, Asheville, Knoxville, and Fredonia, and he has played shows in Austin, Tulsa, Asheville, and Greensboro in addition to the Kentuckiana area.
